LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WKBT) – Gundersen’s health system has announced that it will be helping Afghan refugees residing in Fort McCoy.
They say they are ready to provide the necessary care as they learn the needs of the guests.
Gundersen CEO Dr. Scott Rathgaber says this was important to her because it is her mission to help the community.
“This is an easy decision because these are patients and people in our community and we are committed to all who need care. But I think this was a special commitment when we started, these people really put their lives at risk for our service staff and our troops for a long time, ”said Dr. Scott Rathgaber, CEO of Gundersen.
Gundersen Health is in direct contact with Fort McCoy officials so they know what services are needed.
