John Malkovich and Gemma Chan be part of the cuckoo forged | leisure
John Malkovich and Gemma Chan are said to be in the horror film “Cuckoo”.
The two have taken on the casting of the new film, which will be written and directed by Tilman Singer and which is scheduled to begin production in 2022.
Other actors are Hunter Schafer, Sofia Boutella, Jan Bluthardt, Zita Harnot and Proschat Madani. Neon, who are funding the project, made little information about the film other than the fact that it falls into the horror genre.
“Cuckoo” is the second film directed by Singer after the supernatural thriller “Luz”.
Ken Kao and Josh Rosenbaum are producing the film for Waypoint Entertainment together with Markus Halberschmidt and Maria Tsigka from Fiction Park.
Gemma previously starred as Astrid Leong-Teo on the romcom “Crazy Rich Asians” and says she was “so proud” of the film because it featured a predominantly Asian cast.
The 38-year-old actress said, “I was so proud to be part of ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ because it meant so much to so many people. Especially my family.
“We [as an industry] are getting better at diversifying, but whether it’s ethnicity or gender, it depends on whether it’s a one-time thing or if you’re really making lasting changes. “
Gemma also stated that she sees success as “fulfilled” by the compatibility of work and family.
The ‘Eternals’ star said, “It depends on how you define success. I evolved as I grew up. Success to me now means being happy, but that has different strands.
“That can mean being fulfilled professionally and creatively, but also spending time with people who are important to me.”
