The Play Cenla Household Leisure Heart breaks floor in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – After two years of work, Adrienne and Eddie Ponce have now broken ground for the Play Cenla Family Entertainment Center in Alexandria.
The couple bought the land they are building the facility on back in 2019, but the COVID-19 pandemic has halted their construction plans. Now the couple has started building the first phase of the center.
As parents of four children, the duo saw the need for a local, safe, and family-oriented place for children to go and have fun.
“We drove out of town with our children every weekend to find something for them,” said Adrienne Ponce. “We wanted to bring something to Cenla because our children deserve to have what bigger cities have, so we wanted to bring a family atmosphere to Cenla.”
Phase one of the facility includes a 12,000 square foot building that will house a range of climbing activities and arcade games.
“We’ll have all kinds of climbing events for the kids, as well as a state-of-the-art game room. We will also have private events, general games, birthday parties, summer camps, and fall camps, ”said Ponce.
Ponce told us that entertainment at Play Cenla is curated with the whole family in mind.
“This is really good for all ages so the whole family can come. We’re going to have a toddler area and adults can do these things with their children, ”said Ponce.
Phase one of Play Cenla is scheduled to be completed and opened at the end of November and construction of the second phase will begin next summer.
“We haven’t really decided what’s in there in phase two, and we still have a lot of surprises for phase one,” said Ponce.
One of these surprises is an indoor zip line around the facility.
