“They name me the Irish basketball participant”

Aidan Igiehon is one of the few Irish athletes currently playing college basketball in America.

“I want to pave a way so that no one can overlook Irish basketball again,” he told BBC News NI.

The 20-year-old from Dublin has been widely referred to as one of the most promising Irish prospects to join the National Basketball Association (NBA) – the top of the sport in the United States.

He is six feet tall and has been nicknamed “The Irish Hulk” by his new American fans.

His mother was born to Nigerian parents and moved to Ireland in 2000, but he didn’t start playing basketball until he was 12.

“As soon as I picked up a basketball, it felt like it should be.”
